STEPHEN GAY
Stephen Gay grew up in eastern North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing his studies, Stephen spent time teaching abroad and instructing outdoor education classes in Alaska and North Carolina. He is currently enrolled in the MFA program at the New York Academy of Art.
Stephen’s work is rooted in the experience of perception. His paintings are the result of intentionally slowing the process of perception and exploring the ways energy moves through our visual field. Stephen fills his artworks with expressive, gestural strokes and attention to the dynamic nature of the natural world.
