ANDRES VIVO
Andres Vivo was born in 1955 in Montevideo, Uruguay. From an early age, Vivo felt a deep connection to the sea and its changing moods and colors. As he grew, he began capturing that sentiment and connection through his art.He went on to study with master artists Miguel A. Pareja, Felix Bernasconi, Ana Salcovsky, and Clever Lara, all of whom helped Vivo to broaden his skills, techniques, and artistic sensibilities.
Vivo has achieved recognition for his maritime scenes, painted in a semi-abstract style, in oil on canvas or board, applied with palette knives and brushes.
For many years, he held the position of Director of The Painters & Sculptors Association of Uruguay. His work has been included in many collective shows in his native Uruguay, and in numerous other countries including, Argentina, Australia, Spain, and the U.S. Vivo currently heads his own atelier, located in Montevideo, where he teaches art and exhibits his paintings. His work is included in private and corporate collections worldwide.
“Painting the sea and sky provide me with the perfect excuse to express myself in my love of color and bold strokes. The abstract aspect of my paintings enable me to experiment and get lost in the imagery it evokes in me, while allowing the viewer to interpret the work through their own feelings and emotions. There is nothing shy about the sea or my work!”
