ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I'm an outdoor painter so most of my work begins in the field. Some of it is
finished outside; but I also use field references to work on larger studio pieces.
Occasionally, I'll begin and finish a large canvas in the field, returning serveral
times to the same site until the work is complete. My visual source is the landscape
we live in - earth, skies, rivers, and the oceans we enjoy and care for. The variety
of locales, and natural changes in light, weather, and seasons, provide an infinite amount
of combinations to work with in creating a visual poetry that can live beyond
the instant in which it's created.
